Sunday, December 4th, at 3 p.m., Music at St. James will offer its first organ recital of the new Program Year. The organist, Andrew Howell, organist/choirmaster at St. James-New London, and a graduate of the University of Rhode Island, with a double Master's Degree in Organ Performance and Choral Conducting, will be at the keyboard of the E.M. Skinner pipe organ, Opus 220-undoubtedly one of the finest organs in Eastern Connecticut. Please join us!
This special service will include lessons of the season, carol singing, and special music provided by junior and senior choirs of St. David's, handbells, Allyn Donath on harp and Heather Doughty on french horn.
A traditional Anglican Service featuring 9 lessons and 9 carols/hymns/anthems in the style celebrated by King's College Choir, Cambridge, England. This is an annual offering by Anglican Singers to the City of New London, featuring prominent members of the New London Community (i.e., typically the Mayor, an Officer of a local educational institution, and other community leaders).

Saturday, December 24th, at 7 p.m. St. James will offer the first service of Christmas at 7 p.m. This is an early service-for families who'd like to get their children home, or for anyone else who doesn't want to miss a Christmas Eve service, but would like to get home and to bed early. There will be a special children's homily, great Christmas music, and communion offered. Please join us!
Saturday, December 24th, at 9:45 p.m. St. James will begins its second service of Christmas with a Choral Prelude. At 10 p.m., we continue with a traditional sung Christmas Eve service, a little incense, our Adult Choir, and communion. This service will bring back memories of great Christmas Eve services, or create new memories for those who've never attended a traditional "midnight mass." Please join us!
Christmas Day Mass with Rev. David Cannon.
This year, with Christmas falling on a Sunday (December 25th), St. James will hold to its normal 3-service schedule of 8 and 10 a.m., and 5 p.m. The 8 o'clock is a said service using traditional King James' language with scripture readings, a sermon, and communion. The 10 o'clock is a sung service, using contemporary language, and includes music, our Adult Choir, a sermon, and communion. The 5 o'clock service is an abbreviated, but complete service, using contemporary language, with the Gospel reading, a homily, some Taize hymns, and communion.
